Design Features…The Training Centre has been designed to create a pleasant home atmosphere while at the same time • providing all the requirements necessary for an efficient educational facility. It is both functional and attractive and designed to blend in with its beautiful bush surroundings.
Solidly built in brick, it will implement economically viable, energy saving components. Wetback fire places, heat exchange equipment and insulation will all be utilized. A spacious open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area opens out through bi-fold doors into an north acing paved court yard. Separate tea making and coffee facilities are provided for students in the lounge area along with a working space for laptop computers.
The two accommodation wings house 14 male and 16 female students respectively. Adequate bathroom and shower blocks are provided in each wing. As well there is a public and paraplegic bathroom. Staff, who will live on the premises throughout the duration of the school, have their own accommodation unit complete with an ensuite. The lecture room has a small kitchenette, storage space and built in video and audio equipment. In addition there are office and laundry facilities. The centre opens onto the large spacious bush park in Gideon’s Valley.
Ongoing upkeep of the park will be part of the students’ compulsory two hour work duty each day. The centre will have nine parking spaces of its own and access to a further 25 parking spaces on Gideon’s Valley. Additional facilities already available on site comprise a building with a second lecture room, a two bedroom apartment, guest room, reception area, kitchen and three offices. There is also a large storage site on the property. The property has its own water supply in the form of a deep bore well.
